What is SAFe Nova and what does it do?

SAFe Nova seamlessly integrates photostimulation capabitilies into Abbelight SAFe platform as an add-on to our established advanced imaging solutions.

Featuring a unique adaptive laser beam size and a large field of photostimulation, the SAFe Nova allows users to run pre-programmed protocols and trigger stimulations dynamically on the fly. This offers unprecedented flexibility across applications like FRAP, photoconversion and photoactivation.

Why SAFe Nova is different from another photomanipulation solution?
Photomanipulation systems on the market today have a rather basic optical design, limited in terms of applications due to a big beam size.
 
SAFe Nova was developed with a new kind of optical path to achieve the smallest beam size possible, hence we achieved a real diffraction limited spot. As we wanted to offer more flexibility in the applications, the beamsize is also adjustable for speed and precision.

The Abbelight SAFe solutions are offering the largest field of view, exploiting the maximum performance of microscopes and the objectives. The SAFe Nova was designed on the same base and has a very large field of excitation.
How stimulation is performed with SAFe Nova?

SAFe Nova is coupled with the SAFe platform and uses its own laser lines. Hence, stimulation and imaging can be performed at the same time. Users can observe cell dynamics without dead time.

I already own a SAFe platform (M45, M90, MN180, MN360), can I get a SAFe Nova?
Yes, SAFe Nova is compatible with the new generation of SAFe platforms released in 2024. The module can be attached at the back of M45, M90, MN180, MN360 and does not affect their performance. The installation can be performed directly on-site.
